Die Sängerin Anne-May Krüger und den Komponisten und Performer Andreas Eduardo Frank verbindet die Begeisterung für das virtuose Interagieren von Stimme, Performance und Multimedia. Dabei geht es ihnen nicht um ein „more is more“, sondern um das Spielerisch-Vexierende in der Kombination von Liveperformance und medialen Zuspielen. Auch im Durchbrechen von Rollenzuordnungen: So ist die Performerin mitunter Teil einer virtuellen Maschinerie, manchmal werden aber Licht und Video auch zu musikalischen Begleitern der Sängerin. Und manchmal wird der Komponist zum Mitspieler auf der Bühne.
Die erste gemeinsame Arbeit des Duos, Restore Factory Defaults (2017) für Stimme, Elektronik, Licht und Video, war bereits in verschiedenen europäischen Ländern und in den USA zu erleben, u.a. bei ZeitRäume Basel, Wien Modern und bei NUNC! (Northwestern University of Illinois). Ihr Debüt-Programm als Duo what you see – is what you get – is what you hear mit Kompositionen von Luc Ferrari, Andreas Eduardo Frank und Paul Clift (UA) kam 2021 in Basel, Zürich und Lausanne zur Aufführung. 2023 sind sie mit ihrem Neuen Programm zu hören:
Music for Unicorns, unter Anderem mit Uraufführungen von Mike Svoboda und Chloe Bierri sowie einer Neufassung von John Cage’s Fontana Mix.
The virtuosic interaction of voice, performance and multi-media is a core interest of both the singer Anne-May Krüger and the composer and performer Andreas Eduardo Frank. It’s not the idea of „more is more“ that triggers this interest, but rather the creation of a playful vexation in the combination of live performance and diverse media levels. This also regards the undermining of role conventions, resulting in the conversion of the vocalist into a part of a virtual machine, or making light and video the accompanist of the singer. And sometimes the composer also takes the stage as a performer, laying open the technical machinery.
The first collaboration of the Duo, Restore Factory Defaults (2017) for voice, electronic, light and video, has had performances at European festivals like ZeitRäume Basel and Wien Modern and at NUNC! (Northwestern University of Illinois).
